    Weekly Menu

I'm surprised at the large number of friends who shop more than once a week. Because we live miles out in the country, we try to drive into the nearest town as infrequently as possible. The key for us, to minimising journeys, is the weekly menu. That way we buy all we need once a week - and cut down on food waste as well as greenhouse emissions.

Recycle or die: 3 bins + 1 future

I have just made myself a promise, this year I am going to be a better 'recycler' of my waste. No more 'naughty' little papers in the food bin, or mixing up the rubbish in one sack for me, no sir, not me! Today, the future starts here, in my little apartment in Brussels. I have started organising all my rubbish, and where possible eliminating the need to create rubbish, such as plastic bags. I even started looking at worm farms for my little garden... perhaps tomorrow's action will be wild worm farming? I'll keep you posted.

Making lunches to take to work: I have always done this in the summer however in the winter have brought soups from the supermarket to heat up.

Uses mainly local produce and reduces packaging waste through using tupperware containers.

    Car Sharing

Suggesting that work colleagues car share on their journeys to and from work. This would less to less carbon emissions, less cars on the road and more interactions between people.

    Grow my own

The knowledge of how our food is grown, where it comes from and what goes into it is largely disconnected from the minds of the general public as they walk around Tesco’s. I heard recently a vox pop in which a child was asked where cheese came from, and to my everlasting amusement answered; moles mine it! This basic function of our everyday lives should be understood by everyone from childhood; especially in this food impoverished world.

    Question my every thought!

Everything we've created in society is proceeded by thought - our living room coffee table, to buildings designed by architects - to our monetary system and the concept of war. Before nurturing and acting on my thoughts - I will question where they come from and what they will result in. I will not act on thoughts that arise form fear - but will act on ideas and emotions which coudl result in a more joyful world for us all.
