Lets focus on the NUMBERS

500 million is the magic number. This will be a plan of action on HOW to reach below 500 million without killing a single person, and then more importantly, how to MAINTAIN it FOREVER. First we must all join as a planet in this single effort. The planet Earth is our HOME, and the results will be each and every person living life to their full potential regardless of race or color.
We must first take in account of the number of generations that live on the planet at once is on average 4. Child, parent, grandparent, and great grandparent. Few live longer, but there will be plenty of resources for them. Key word there is RESOURCES. It would be ideal to become a resource based economy as proposed by Jacques and Roxanne in the Venus Project, BUT not without better management of the consumptions of natural resources.
The GAME PLAN
Come 2012 we have only a selected few people worldwide who are to give genetic birth that year. It`s NOT impossible. Highly unlikely, but this is how it must be done to achieve the angelic results. Sacrifices must be made. Alternatives for having children would be as simple as FREE adoption.
So generation A will have but 250 million people. Within that generation only allow a single child birth per person. That would be a max of 125 million + or - a few. Repeat, 62.5 million people + or -. Once more, 36.25 + or -. There we have 4 generations, and the planet should have only 473 million people roughly. That`s well below 500 million. At that point we should be able to completely eliminate the residue of a selfish cash society. Everyone could be living their dream life with a mansion, yacht, and luxury automobiles all of which paid for. And then comes the more important stage. To MAINTAIN it FOREVER. Generation D has 4 children per couple, thus doubling the entire population. Next three generations do the same, and we`ll be back where we started. Start over. A continual cycle see?
There`s my plan for humanity. It WILL work if we WORK it.

The one child family is the only solution at present! Difficulty is how to convey this message to the masses concerned. By pressure, yes, but a way to ensure an understanding of this importance is a formidable task.l

Thx Carl, so you can see the continuous cycle huh? That`s Utopia right there! Al that must be done is to spread the word, cause Carl, anyone can see that, it`s really just common sense. And the people who will oppose it the most are Christians, with their disillusioned thoughts of Jesus. For one, his name was Jesus THE Christ, he never had a last name. For two the population was under 500 million when he walked the Earth. And then he was murdered by the church through the will of the primitive masses.
I just wish people would wake up, before something dreadful happens, like the man made Armageddon approaching in 2012.

I can see a couple of problems with your proposal. Firstly who gets to choose who has babies and who doesn't? We don't want to go down the eugenics route now do we.
Secondly the world economy - as it now stands - requires growth: including population growth, for it to work. So I think we would need a new economic model in place before we launched a worlwide campaign to encourage people to have fewer babies.
I do agree that religion stands - as an obstacle - in the way of the kind of economic and social development required to provide a sustainable future: here on Planet Earth, for the Human Race.

What a bunch of ungrateful selfish egotists! That formula above is f`in amazing! It`s simple follow! The alternative is going to be a man made Armageddon coming soon. MAN made! Why do you think H.A.A.R.P. is owned by the military? Look at that recent earthquake in Haiti. THAT was man made! Over 5 million people STARVED to DEATH somewhere on the planet just last year! How many in America? ZERO!
The formula above is a PEACEFUL alternative to Armageddon. If you choose Armageddon, so be it. You have been warned!

I apologize for the rude comments above. I wish there was a way to delete them. Now the comment made by Peter above was a rational comment. I mean population growth does stimulate the economy, and it has been for millions of years. But after looking at the following numbers, I began to recognize a PATTERN that was quite dangerous. See if you can recognize the PATTERN

1950- 2,521 million

2008- 6,707 million

Point being is that never before in history have we been at this point in sheer numbers, so we don`t have anything to look back on. We`re trailblazing, and heading towards disaster if we don`t awaken.
