1. What is Our Future Planet (OFP)?

Our Future Planet is an innovative website and online community that inspires citizens through the global sharing of knowledge and networks. Our Future Planet enables citizens to design an integrated plan by interconnecting and empowering them through the creation of actions, petitions and proposals with the aim of creating a sustainable future. 2. How did Our Future Planet start?

The idea for Our Future Planet was developed in 2006 by Karl Jaeger and Samantha Harvey, and the charity was established in 2008. The idea evolved out of a desire to rethink the direction the world is heading in and to inspire people to create a better world in which to live. [Go back to FAQ]

6. What does Our Future Planet do?

Our Future Planet is a new website and online community for anyone who wants to design and create a future that does not unquestioningly follow on from the ways of the past. When you become a citizen of Our Future Planet, you can use the site to pool ideas and resources, and develop proposals that you would like to see in a brighter future. A better future is about integrating systems that take on the challenges of the whole planet. You can be part of our creative community designing the big picture.

What You Can Do in Our Future Planet Community

7. What is the Citizen's ID?

This is your space on the site where you can add ideas or proposals, contribute to forums, create actions or petitions, share visions on Wiki for the future, link with other Citizens, comment on news and give citizenships to friends and family. [Go back to FAQ]

8. What is the Ideas Globe?

The ideas globe is designed to encourage the creation of a sustainable and integrated planet. This is your environment to learn, share knowledge, add ideas or view proposals written by other Citizens. The thousands of lines that link the topics creates an integrating process.

9. What are Actions?

Actions are short statements describing actions you wish to take for a better future planet. Other citizens can sign up to your actions. [Go back to FAQ]

10. What are Petitions?

You can start and join petitions about something you want to change or causes you feel strongly about. You can raise awareness of the petition by emailing other citizens. Once you’ve got enough signatures, can take to an authority to create change. [Go back to FAQ]

11. What is the Wiki for the future?

Wiki for the future works like any other “Wiki” (i.e. Wikipedia) except this one’s not how things are, but how they could be. This wiki is not just for information and reference, but intended to encourage evolving ideas to form a blueprint for the future. Anyone can add and edit these pages for constant improvement. 12. What is the Letter to Myself?

Have you got ideas now about yourself and the future, but not sure you’ll remember it tomorrow or in one year? You can write a letter to yourself on the site about how you see yourself in the future, how you would like the future to be, or anything that you feel inspired to write to yourself about. Your letter will be saved for you to look at in the future. You can choose to publish your letter on the site plus view letters that other citizens have written. [Go back to FAQ]

15. How can I give Citizenships to others?

Go to give citizenships and enter the email of your friends and family. They’ll receive an email with the gift you have offered them. You can also import your contacts by sending invites to contacts in your Hotmail/GMail/Yahoo/Outlook address book. [Go back to FAQ]

16. How can I volunteer or donate?

You can become part of our creative team building a better future. There are only three requirements: have the desire to be part of the design and creation of a better future planet, become a citizen, and smile. You can volunteer your time at our office or from your home or school. Or you can contribute funds to a project that interests you.
