The Xmag article about population is short sighted. It says that there is no population problem because growth in productivity is keeping up with growth in human numbers.
All the time we can keep producing enough food, water and goods for everyone, we're fine.
Anyone who has any concept of the word 'finite' will argue that it isn't just how much we produce, but how we produce it and how long we can keep producing it by those means. Feeding an ever-increasing number of mouths means plundering the planet and its natural ability to replenish itself, which means in the future we all suffer. We have to stop imagining a magic and infinite source of food, x-boxes and 48-piece dinner sets. If we want more of those we have to have fewer people; if we want more people we have to have less of those, and that's the end of that.
