To love one person each day. Not physically. But to do something, a kind gesture, for example, I don't know, even holding a door open. Do something lovely. Hold someone in your heart for a few seconds. A cheery smile, a wave. It'll brighten up your day.

We are creating a coherent, shared design for our future planet. This page starts with 50 topics and it works like any wiki - anybody can add and edit these pages. But the purpose of WikiVisions is different. These pages aren't just for information and reference, they are intended as evolving visions forming a blueprint for the future. Become part of planet car club!
Planet Car Clubs is a non-profit car club advocacy service that helps communities set up their own car clubs at minimal cost. Vehicles are typically located in residential streets or wherever is convenient, and can be booked for as little as an hour at a time. Why use a car club? Owning a car has steep financial and ecological costs. Driving is the single most polluting thing most people do, and they pay a high price to do it - an average car will cost its owner around £5000 a year in fuel, depreciation and maintenance. Car clubs have begun... Read more

Recognize that change is needed!
One of the fundamental qualities of Our Future Planet is its recognition that change is needed and is valuable. Here the founders of OFP have included in its launch some creative ideas as to how certain key topics might be improved. At the same time it is almost a mute question of whether or not someone else thought of them and suggested them previously. They have not been incorporated into our present planet’s reality. And then there is the story of when the famous playwright, George Bernard Shaw, was out walking with a friend and the friend made... Read more

If you find inner peace you will be able to spread it. If you don't, you won't. If there's nobody to spread peace there will be no peace. If there's no peace the planet will be more like hell than heaven, which would be a stupid waste of everybody's lives.

I feel the need to take immediate action enabling us to care for the earth in a loving way. Taking control of underused or misused land is a practical initiative, motivated by a moral or spiritual imperative.

Resolve to sign one petition each week on an issue close to your heart
Many of us have a cause or issue close to our hearts and it is not as difficult as you might think to make a difference! My New Year's Resolution in 2011 is to sign at least one petition or letter writing campaign a week to contribute to positive change. Many NGOs have their own campaigns and petitions including GreenPeace, UNICEF, the RSPCA, Amnesty International and many more. Letter writing to your local MP can be equally effective and only takes one forward thinking member of the community to kick-start. The government has an online platform for petitions that is monitored by... Read more

If we all think a little less about ourselves, and more about how what we're doing is affecting other people, we might end up being that little bit less selfish, more inclined to be sensitive to others and their situations.

There are so many ideas out there that deserve a hearing and more complete understanding. My role is to help communicate and explain them - always remembering that we can't do everything at once. Like the Oblique Strategies card says: "Always First Steps."

When we take the gold standard out of our daily lives by adopting barter/trading and gifting/giving we give ourselves tha capasity to see the people instead of the stuff or the bank roll. If we see the people, and are seen as a person, our entire perception of the world and humanity improves, and we unsonciously simply spread this imporvement.

I believe green spirituality is of paramount importance for our future. The Mystery of Being is mysterious enough to be an inspiration for everyone's spiritual development. The Earth is wonderful enough - still. Teach your children green spirituality, where environmental care is pared with feelings of deep connection with the universe.

Because our overall premise is that we are one. If indeed we are one, we come to recognize that if I treat "my brother" badly, I am really treating myself that way. We come to learn that we can bring LOVE to each and every situation and heal the world this way.

Adaptiong to Power verses Force.
Power verses Force: There is a line in a song I really enjoy which goes, “Every where you look, you could write a book on what’s going on.” As I move into the older and wiser stage of my life I have been reflecting on influences and global community. How does one stand out, and make a difference in these times when there are so many things going on that need attention? The key for me is “to be the change you want to see” and that comes down to power verses force. Being in your power or being empowered... Read more

Recycle or die: 3 bins + 1 future
I have just made myself a promise, this year I am going to be a better 'recycler' of my waste. No more 'naughty' little papers in the food bin, or mixing up the rubbish in one sack for me, no sir, not me! Today, the future starts here, in my little apartment in Brussels. I have started organising all my rubbish, and where possible eliminating the need to create rubbish, such as plastic bags. I even started looking at worm farms for my little garden... perhaps tomorrow's action will be wild worm farming? I'll keep you posted.

Education, community connection and living in sync with my new beliefs.
I am currently learning all I can about alternative sustainable healthy living. This includes being off the grid – independent living; sustainable environmentally friendly energy sources; 100 mile diet; food forests; organic gardening; nurturing and caring for the planet and the community I live in; respecting the elderly and disabled; and economic democracy. During this process I hope to join up with others on the same path, so we can learn from each others. My plan includes moving into sustainable housing, and creating a community center so that this interaction with others is facilitated on a community or global level.

Everyone should do work in the community, whether with the elderly, youth, medical, environment, crime prevention, culture, schools and everything else. It really can help with understanding life, fellow humans, and teach humility, civic responsibility and bond people and communities. This idea is to create a national service which is taken on by governments and enlists the general public to work on community projects and needs. Minimum is 6 months and people are paid but social rewards would be great.

Empowering mountain villages to adopt a zero-waste system.
This action will inspire the local villagers to work together in preserving the beauty of their home. It will change their perspective of trash, instead of a dead waste to be burned it can be a resource to build with. I want to introduce clean energy to mounatin villages off the grid, by asking for access and funding for these renewable energy.

We all carry our mobile phones with names and numbers stored in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn’t know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this ‘ICE’ (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. The concept of ‘ICE’ is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need... Read more
